Why Can't I Open Files in Google Drive on a Website?

Sometimes the website you’re visiting doesn't look right. It shows up as a jumble of out-of-place menus, images, and text boxes. What's going on? One possible explanation: The site might have been designed for an earlier version of Internet Explorer. If Internet Explorer recognizes that the webpage isn't compatible, you'll see the Compatibility View button on the Address bar that, when clicked, will sometimes allow the website fix the website view.

However, if Internet Explorer 11 inadvertently displays new website in compatibility mode, the new website will often not work correctly. If this occurs, you can turn off "Compatibility Mode".

Here is how you do it:

a) Open Internet Explorer window.

b) Open the Tools menu at the top of your browser and select Compatibility View Settings.

c) Under "Websites you've added to Compatibility View", check if “google.com” is listed. If “Yes”, select it and click Remove.

d) Uncheck the third (last) option, stating that "Display all websites in Compatibility view."

e) Click Close and close Internet Explorer window, and then check.
